CONTEST RULES

SUBMISSIONS

All submissions shall be done only through Instagram and must include one or more of the tags discussed below for consideration.

RULES

  • Contestants may submit unlimited entries.

  • Entries may be considered for up to 2 categories (excluding Grand Prize).

  • The “Best/Most Popular” category may include photos selected from other categories or may be unique in their own right.

  • The participating users’ profiles should be public. We are not able to see entries from private profiles.

  • Entries should be posted on Instagram from March 1 to May 31, 2023 only.

  • The post should mention @welovesiemreap in the post description, not in the comments.

  • Only photos posted on the Instagram feed will be considered. Posts on IG stories are not eligible.

  • Photos must be hashtagged! All posts should contain #welovesiemreap hashtag and at least 1 category hashtag.

  • Everyone knows Angkor Wat, but Siem Reap is also home to many contemporary architectural and design marvels. Can you find them? Can you show us what we have not seen? These can be homes or shops. It can be a building facade or an interior design detail. You can photograph something ancient, from the 1960s Khmer modern movement, or even super contemporary. Please mention the location so others can find it!

Category Entries

To qualify for any of the category contests, posts must contain at least 1 of the following tags and the main tag #welovesiemreap. Photos will only be considered for up to 2 categories. Contestants are encouraged to add additional tags to help share their photos with larger communities who may be interested in the subject matter.

JUDGING CRITERIA

Judging and selection of “finals” will be done in two rounds. Both rounds will be assessed by the following criteria:

  • Does the photo match the criteria? This is a yes/no answer. Note that if it does not match the category criteria, the photo may still be considered for the “best of”.

  • Does the photo stand out as unique? Was it thought about? Is it taking a new view on things we already know? If it’s a portrait, do they capture the spirit of the subject?

  • Does the photo exhibit creative thought? Is the angle unique? Did the photographer try something different? Did they find something really unique in the city and discover a unique way to show it?

  • Does the photo stand out as truly Siem Reap? This does not mean putting a temple in the background. All photos will be considered but it’s best to ask yourself, could this photo be anywhere in the world or does something capture it as uniquely Siem Reap?

  • Yes, likes, reposts and other reactions on Instagram count too but they are not the only judgment criteria.

Finals Selection

Our team will select up to 15 photos for each category.

These will be selected by:

  • Judges’ Vote:  70%

  • Community Reaction:             40%

The WHSR team reserves the right to reduce the number of considered submissions based on the volume and quality of entries.

ELIGIBILITY

Photos must be taken within the calendar year 2023

We understand that you may have some great photos from your trip a few years ago, but we want to show off the Siem Reap of today. Any photos found not to be taken in 2023 will be disqualified.
